Create a custom CSV template for import

This article describes how to create a reusable CSV template in Remote Desktop Manager. The approach is to start from one or more sample entries, export them to CSV, then use that file as the basis for preparing an import.

Create the sample entries

  1. In Remote Desktop Manager, identify the entry type you want to import.

  2. Manually create a sample entry of that type.

  3. Fill in the fields you want to include in your future template.

  4. Save the entry.

  5. Repeat the previous steps for each entry type you want to include in your template.

Export the entries to CSV

  1. Go to File and click Export.

  2. Select the Export all host lists (.csv) option.

  3. Save the .csv file.

Edit the template

  1. Open the .csv file in Excel.

  2. Review the columns generated by Remote Desktop Manager.

  3. Edit the data rows according to the entries you want to create.

  4. Save the .csv file.

Import the template

  1. Go to File and click Import.

  2. Open the Import generic CSV wizard.

  3. Select the edited .csv file.

  4. Follow the steps in the import wizard.

  5. Confirm that the imported entries contain the correct information.
