Account discovery

Account discovery is the process of identifying identities managed by a Devolutions PAM provider.

These accounts are stored on external identity providers and can represent either a person or a service. An account may take the form of a user account with a username and password, a certificate, or a Microsoft Azure AD application.

For example, account discovery might reveal:

  • A user account in Microsoft Active Directory for an employee in HR.

  • A certificate attached to a web server for encrypting web traffic.

Each discovered account establishes an identity that links both authorization and access levels to the associated person or service.
