# Move to a new computer

Save the list of your apps and reinstall all of them on a new or reset computer in a few minutes.

Setting up a new computer usually means a day of downloading installers. With UniGetUI, you save the list of your apps once, then reinstall all of them on the new machine in one batch.

There are two ways to save that list. Both produce the same kind of file, a **bundle**, so you restore them the same way.

<table><thead><tr><th width="250"></th><th>BACKUP</th><th>BUNDLE</th></tr></thead><tbody><tr><td><strong>What's in it</strong></td><td>All your installed apps</td><td>Only the apps you pick</td></tr><tr><td><strong>When it's made</strong></td><td>Automatically, on a schedule</td><td>When you save it</td></tr><tr><td><strong>Best for</strong></td><td>A safety net if your computer dies</td><td>A move you plan, or a standard set of apps for several computers</td></tr></tbody></table>

<table data-view="cards"><thead><tr><th></th><th></th><th data-hidden data-card-target data-type="content-ref"></th></tr></thead><tbody><tr><td><strong>Back up your app list automatically</strong></td><td>Keep an up-to-date list of your apps in a folder or on GitHub.</td><td><a href="/unigetui/guides/new-computer/backup.md">Back up your app list automatically</a></td></tr><tr><td><strong>Create a bundle of your apps</strong></td><td>Hand-pick apps and save them in a file you can share.</td><td><a href="/unigetui/guides/new-computer/create-a-bundle.md">Create a bundle of your apps</a></td></tr><tr><td><strong>Set up a new computer</strong></td><td>Reinstall everything from a bundle or a backup.</td><td><a href="/unigetui/guides/new-computer/restore.md">Set up a new computer</a></td></tr></tbody></table>

{% hint style="info" %}
A backup or a bundle is just a list of apps and their install options. It doesn't contain the apps themselves, your documents, or app settings.
{% endhint %}

## Querying This Documentation
If you need additional information that is not directly available in this page, you can query the documentation by asking a question.

Perform an HTTP GET request on the following URL with the `ask` and `goal` query parameters:

```
GET https://docs.devolutions.net/unigetui/guides/new-computer.md?ask=<question>&goal=<user_goal>
```

`ask` is the immediate question: it should be specific, self-contained, and written in natural language.
`goal` is what the user is ultimately trying to achieve, the reason they need the answer. Sharing it helps GitBook give you a better, more relevant answer. A goal is most helpful when it describes the outcome the user wants rather than restating the question. For example, with `ask=how do I create an API token`, a goal like `automate deployments from our CI pipeline` lets GitBook tailor the answer to that use case.

The response will contain a direct answer to the question and relevant excerpts and sources from the documentation.

Use this mechanism when the answer is not explicitly present in the current page, you need clarification or additional context, or you want to retrieve related documentation sections.
