# Synchronizers

A synchronizer is an entry that keeps Devolutions Server in sync with external systems such as Active Directory or other vaults. It compares the contents of an external source with a target vault or folder and creates, updates, or disables entries according to defined rules.

Synchronizers reduce manual data entry and help ensure that access remains aligned with source systems as they change. For instance, an administrator can configure a synchronizer that regularly imports servers and groups from Active Directory, automatically updating corresponding remote sessions and permissions.
