# Custom fields

Custom fields in Devolutions Server are additional metadata fields that you define to capture organization specific information on entries. They can store items such as asset tags, ticket numbers, or application owners, and appear directly on the entry edit and view pages so users see the context they need without leaving the vault.

Administrators configure custom fields centrally and decide which entry types they apply to, then users can search and filter on those values across vaults. A common scenario is adding a custom field for change request IDs so every remote session and credential is linked back to an auditable workflow.
