# Search

Search in Devolutions Server helps users quickly locate entries, folders, and vaults based on names, metadata, and custom fields. The main search bar supports filters on entry type and fields such as asset tag, serial number, or accounting number, while advanced options allow scoping by vault or folder to reduce noise in large environments. Because search honors permissions, users only see results for items they are allowed to view, which keeps discovery fast without leaking sensitive information.

A service desk analyst might search for a laptop by asset tag, open its information entry, and then jump directly to the associated remote support session.
