# Prevent data loss when upgrading Devolutions Server

Enabling the [Custom + Inherited permission set](https://docs.devolutions.net/rdm/user-groups-based-access-control/permissions/) in Devolutions Server 2025.1 while running an outdated Remote Desktop Manager version (2024.3 or earlier) can cause data loss.

### Solution

To avoid this issue, update Remote Desktop Manager to ***version 2025.1***. If data loss occurs, contact [Devolutions customer support](mailto:service@devolutions.net) for assistance.
