# Windows Credential Manager

The Windows Credential Manager allows you to securely store credentials, such as usernames and passwords, for logging into websites or other network computers. By storing your credentials, Windows can automatically log you into your accounts or connected devices. Credentials are saved in dedicated folders on your computer known as vaults. Windows and applications, including web browsers, can securely retrieve and provide the stored credentials from these vaults to authenticate with other computers and websites. ### Conflicting credentials with Remote Desktop Manager

If you store your password locally in the Windows Credential Manager and use multiple RDP sessions pointing to the same host, the credentials stored in the Windows Credential Manager will override those saved in Remote Desktop Manager.

To change this behavior:

1. Open Windows Credential Manager.
2. Click on ***Windows Credentials***.
3. Locate the conflicting credential, click the arrow next to it, and select ***Remove***.

To prevent this from happening in the future, disable the ***Store password locally*** option located under the ***General*** tab of the RDP entry in Remote Desktop Manager.
