# Dell iDRAC entries

**Dell iDRAC** and ***Dell iDRAC (web)*** entries are sometimes mistaken for one another despite boasting different features and functionalities. To help differentiate them, the entry types are located in different sections of the ***Add new entry*** window (***Session*** and ***Remote management*** respectively).

### Dell iDRAC

A ***Dell iDRAC*** entry allows access to a Dell PowerEdge server remote console, granting control over the server regardless of its operating system or operating state.

### Dell iDRAC (web)

A ***Dell iDRAC (web)*** entry allows the user to connect and then sign in to an iDRAC web management portal. Consoles can be accessed from there as well, only with a more limited experience than if they were opened using a ***Dell iDRAC*** entry directly.
