Dell iDRAC and Dell iDRAC (web) entries are sometimes mistaken for one another despite boasting different features and functionalities. To help differentiate them, the entry types are located in different sections of the Add new entry window (Session and Remote management respectively).
A Dell iDRAC entry allows access to a Dell PowerEdge server remote console, granting control over the server regardless of its operating system or operating state.
A Dell iDRAC (web) entry allows the user to connect and then sign in to an iDRAC web management portal. Consoles can be accessed from there as well, only with a more limited experience than if they were opened using a Dell iDRAC entry directly.
