Installation

This section covers everything needed to install, update, and remove Remote Desktop Manager across all supported platforms.

Client

Remote Desktop Manager is available on Windows, macOS, Linux, iOS, and Android. The Windows client can be downloaded as a setup file (.msi or .exe) or as a compressed binary (.7z or .zip) from the Devolutions website or the Microsoft Store.

Depending on the downloaded media, either run the setup or extract the files to any folder and launch the executable. For portable or multi-instance deployments, a portable (USB) installation option is also available.

After installing, you can start with a free trial or register a purchased license. By default, a local SQLite workspace is created, and additional workspaces can be configured at any time.

Database upgrade

Some Remote Desktop Manager releases require changes to the underlying database structure. These upgrades are performed automatically when you open the application, but it is best practice to back up your workspace first. In team environments, you must be the only user connected to the database during the upgrade, and the account performing the update must have administrative privileges (SYSDBA or DB_OWNER).

Updating Remote Desktop Manager

When a new version is available, Remote Desktop Manager displays an update window with release notes (new features, improvements, fixes, and breaking changes). From that window, you can download and install the update immediately, schedule installation for when the application closes, skip the version, or be reminded later. On Linux, updates are applied manually by downloading the new .deb package and installing it via the terminal.
