# Permissions, RBAC, and roles

Permissions, RBAC, and roles in Remote Desktop Manager control access to vaults, folders, and entries while simplifying management at scale.

Permissions and roles in Remote Desktop Manager control who can access or change data, while RBAC simplifies management at scale. Assign fine-grained permissions to the vault root, folders, or individual entries to align access with responsibility.

Use role-based access control to group users into predefined roles and apply them consistently across system-level settings and PAM vault scenarios. This improves security, reduces administration effort, and supports least privilege across teams.
