# Permissions, RBAC, and roles

Permissions and roles in Remote Desktop Manager control who can access or change data, while RBAC simplifies management at scale. Assign fine-grained permissions to the vault root, folders, or individual entries to align access with responsibility.

Use role-based access control to group users into predefined roles and apply them consistently across system-level settings and PAM vault scenarios. This improves security, reduces administration effort, and supports least privilege across teams.
