# Integrated security

Enable Integrated security in Remote Desktop Manager to authenticate users to a SQL Server workspace using their current Windows session credentials.

{% tabs %}
{% tab title="Windows" %}
***Integrated security*** is a Microsoft technology, which uses the credentials of the current Windows session and send them automatically to the remote resources for authentication.

{% hint style="info" %}
This feature is available with [SQL Server](/rdm/getting-started/workspaces/workspace-types/alternative-workspaces/microsoft-sql-server.md) workspaces.
{% endhint %}

### Settings <a href="#settings" id="settings"></a>

To use integrated security, enable the feature in the ***User management*** window. The ***Password*** field is disabled because the operating system will provide a cached copy automatically.

When the option is enabled, click the ellipsis button to display the ***Select user*** dialog.

{% hint style="info" %}
Ensure the appropriate domain is displayed in the ***From this location*** field. Sometime the location defaults to the local computer. Click the ***Locations*** button to browse for the domain instead.
{% endhint %}

When using integrated security, the currently running windows session must be from a user of the domain. If you need to use other credentials, Remote Desktop Manager must be started using the RUNAS command.
{% endtab %}

## Querying This Documentation
If you need additional information that is not directly available in this page, you can query the documentation by asking a question.

Perform an HTTP GET request on the following URL with the `ask` and `goal` query parameters:

```
GET https://docs.devolutions.net/rdm/ribbon-menu-bar/administration/user-management/integrated-security.md?ask=<question>&goal=<user_goal>
```

`ask` is the immediate question: it should be specific, self-contained, and written in natural language.
`goal` is what the user is ultimately trying to achieve, the reason they need the answer. Sharing it helps GitBook give you a better, more relevant answer. A goal is most helpful when it describes the outcome the user wants rather than restating the question. For example, with `ask=how do I create an API token`, a goal like `automate deployments from our CI pipeline` lets GitBook tailor the answer to that use case.

The response will contain a direct answer to the question and relevant excerpts and sources from the documentation.

Use this mechanism when the answer is not explicitly present in the current page, you need clarification or additional context, or you want to retrieve related documentation sections.
