# Sync-RDMUser

Sync-RDMUser updates Remote Desktop Manager users from their identity provider and reports the ones still requiring intervention.

### Synopsis

Update users from their identity provider.

### Syntax

#### \_\_AllParameterSets

```
Sync-RDMUser [-Provider] <ServerUserType[]> [-OnDisabledInProvider <UserCleanupOption>]
 [-OnMissingFromProvider <UserCleanupOption>] [-UnassignLicenses] [-TransferUserVaultToSharedVault]
 [-ForcePromptAnswer <DialogResult[]>] [-WhatIf] [-Confirm] [<CommonParameters>]
```

### Description

Update users from their identity provider. Profile information for every user still present in the provider is refreshed silently. The cmdlet returns every user still flagged as requiring intervention after synchronizing, so they can be reviewed and, when actionable, passed to Invoke-RDMUserCleanup. Each result carries a Reason: NotFound and Disabled reflect the provider directly and are actionable via OnMissingFromProvider and OnDisabledInProvider. DomainConfigurationNotFound and Unknown mean the server could not reach a verdict, an unmatched domain configuration, or a failed save, and since no On parameter covers them, they are never auto-actioned. Without the On parameters nothing is disabled or deleted. Requires a Devolutions Server workspace.

### Examples

#### Example 1

```powershell
PS C:\> Sync-RDMUser -Provider Domain
```

Update all Active Directory users and list the ones that no longer match the domain.

#### Example 2

```powershell
PS C:\> Sync-RDMUser -Provider Domain, AzureAD
```

Update users from both Active Directory and Microsoft Entra ID.

#### Example 3

```powershell
PS C:\> Sync-RDMUser -Provider Domain -OnDisabledInProvider Disable -OnMissingFromProvider Delete -UnassignLicenses -TransferUserVaultToSharedVault
```

Mirror the provider state in one call: disable the users disabled in the domain, delete the ones no longer there, and keep their private vault contents.

#### Example 4

```powershell
PS C:\> Sync-RDMUser -Provider Domain -OnDisabledInProvider Disable | Invoke-RDMUserCleanup -CleanupOption Delete
```

Disable the users disabled in the domain, then delete whatever is left to decide.

## Querying This Documentation
If you need additional information that is not directly available in this page, you can query the documentation by asking a question.

Perform an HTTP GET request on the following URL with the `ask` and `goal` query parameters:

```
GET https://docs.devolutions.net/powershell/powershell-commands/sync-rdmuser.md?ask=<question>&goal=<user_goal>
```

`ask` is the immediate question: it should be specific, self-contained, and written in natural language.
`goal` is what the user is ultimately trying to achieve, the reason they need the answer. Sharing it helps GitBook give you a better, more relevant answer. A goal is most helpful when it describes the outcome the user wants rather than restating the question. For example, with `ask=how do I create an API token`, a goal like `automate deployments from our CI pipeline` lets GitBook tailor the answer to that use case.

The response will contain a direct answer to the question and relevant excerpts and sources from the documentation.

Use this mechanism when the answer is not explicitly present in the current page, you need clarification or additional context, or you want to retrieve related documentation sections.
