# New-RDMVaultTemplate

New-RDMVaultTemplate creates a vault template in the current Remote Desktop Manager workspace, optionally seeded with entries.

### Synopsis

Create a new vault template.

### Syntax

#### \_\_AllParameterSets

```
New-RDMVaultTemplate [-Name] <string> [[-Entries] <PSConnection[]>] [-Set]
 [-ForcePromptAnswer <DialogResult[]>] [<CommonParameters>]
```

### Description

Create a vault template. If -Set is not used, the instance will not be saved. Users may also call Set-RDMVaultTemplate to save the template or add more entries later.

-Entries accepts unsaved PSConnection objects built with New-RDMEntry (without -Set). Any folder referenced by an entry's Group that does not already exist in the batch is created automatically.

Requires workspace settings edit permission.

### Examples

#### Example 1

```powershell
PS C:\> $folder = New-RDMEntry -Name 'Network' -Type Group
PS C:\> $router = New-RDMEntry -Name 'Router1' -Type RDPConfigured -Group 'Network'
PS C:\> $template = New-RDMVaultTemplate -Name 'Network Devices' -Entries @($folder, $router) -Set
```

Creates and saves a vault template seeded with a folder and one entry nested inside it.

### Parameters

#### -Entries

Entries to seed the template with, built via New-RDMEntry without -Set. Folders referenced by an entry's Group that don't already exist in the batch are created automatically.

## Querying This Documentation
If you need additional information that is not directly available in this page, you can query the documentation by asking a question.

Perform an HTTP GET request on the following URL with the `ask` and `goal` query parameters:

```
GET https://docs.devolutions.net/powershell/powershell-commands/new-rdmvaulttemplate.md?ask=<question>&goal=<user_goal>
```

`ask` is the immediate question: it should be specific, self-contained, and written in natural language.
`goal` is what the user is ultimately trying to achieve, the reason they need the answer. Sharing it helps GitBook give you a better, more relevant answer. A goal is most helpful when it describes the outcome the user wants rather than restating the question. For example, with `ask=how do I create an API token`, a goal like `automate deployments from our CI pipeline` lets GitBook tailor the answer to that use case.

The response will contain a direct answer to the question and relevant excerpts and sources from the documentation.

Use this mechanism when the answer is not explicitly present in the current page, you need clarification or additional context, or you want to retrieve related documentation sections.
