Installation

Before using your application, you will have to complete a quick setup that involves selecting your Devolutions product(s), connecting to your account, and configuring security settings. Devolutions Password Manager can be used with Devolutions Server and Devolutions Cloud.

Installing Devolutions Password Manager

The following steps detail how to install Devolutions Password Manager:

  1. Download the Devolutions Password Manager app for Windows.

  2. Launch the installation wizard.

  3. Click on Install.

Follow the steps below to perform the initial configuration of Devolutions Password Manager:

  1. Once the installation is complete, in the Devolutions Password Manager setup window, check the solution you wish to add, then click on Start setup.

  2. Next, enter the URL of the solution.

  3. Log in to your Devolutions Account.

    Adding a Devolutions Cloud space requires the additional step of choosing which Devolutions Cloud instance to connect to.

  4. Choose a backup option (strongly recommended) and click on Next.

  5. Enable the use of a biometric lock (Windows Hello, Touch ID, etc.) or a master password (strongly recommended). The Biometric lock setting can be found later in FileSettingsSecurity and privacy.

    • Use biometric lock: Your device will prompt you to authenticate using this method. It must first be configured on your device to work with Devolutions Password Manager.

    • Use master password: Devolutions Password Manager will ask you to create a password of at least 8 characters.

  6. Click on Done to complete the initial setup of your first space.

Adding more spaces can be done by clicking on the Add space (cross icon), located either in the sidebar or the Home section of Devolutions Password Manager, and following the same steps described above.

To work properly on Linux, Devolutions Password Manager is dependent on a few packages that must be downloaded and installed beforehand:

  • libglib2.0-dev

  • libsqlite3-dev

  • libcurl4t64

  • libayatana-appindicator3-1

  • libjpeg-turbo8

The latest version of Devolutions Password Manager for Linux can be downloaded from Cloudsmith or from Devolution’ website, and is available for Ubuntu 2024.04 and up. The installation process is then the same as for the other operating systems.

Custom installation

Custom installations can be created to facilitate workspace deployment on multiple machines with the same preconfigured settings, similar to the custom installer service for Remote Desktop Manager. Follow the steps below to create a .cfg configuration file which can then be imported into your users' Devolutions Password Manager application:

  1. In Devolutions Password Manager, go to Help & ToolsCustom installation.

  2. Click the Create configuration file tab, and select an Active workspace.

  3. Check the particular settings you wish to include in the custom installation, and toggle/define the options that best fit your needs.

  4. Once the settings have been configured, click the Create button and choose a destination folder for the .cfg file.
