# Remote management

Remote management is the ability to control and monitor systems from a distance, using secure tools instead of being physically on site. In Remote Desktop Manager, remote management centralizes launch, monitoring, and troubleshooting for technologies such as Active Directory, VMware, and Hyper V.

When entries are stored in Devolutions Cloud, the vault becomes the authoritative inventory while remote sessions are launched either from the Devolutions Cloud web interface or from Remote Desktop Manager and Devolutions Password Manager. Combined with Devolutions Gateway, this enables just in time remote access to internal resources without exposing them directly to the internet.
