# Override settings

Override settings let you change specific configuration values for an entry without permanently modifying the original shared configuration. Instead of duplicating entries for each environment or user preference, overrides apply temporary or scoped changes while preserving the baseline.

When Devolutions Cloud is used as a workspace in Remote Desktop Manager, overrides are useful for adjusting things like credentials, gateways, or display options for a particular user or playlist while still relying on centralized Devolutions Cloud data. A typical scenario is using the same Devolutions Cloud entry with different credential overrides in test versus production from Remote Desktop Manager.
