# Services

Services in this context refer to Devolutions Cloud Services, the on-premises components that connect Devolutions Cloud to local infrastructure for encryption, PAM, and reporting. Because Devolutions Cloud is cloud based, Devolutions Cloud Services is installed locally to host the encryption service, PAM service, and reporting service that communicate securely with Devolutions Cloud.

Maintaining these Windows services and their logs is part of operating Devolutions Cloud reliably. When they are healthy and version aligned, PAM password rotations, privileged session brokering, and scheduled reports continue to run even as Devolutions Cloud itself evolves. Planned maintenance windows typically include restarting or upgrading these services while monitoring their logs for errors.
