# Administration: roles and access

Every option of the devo admin role and devo admin access commands: security roles, permission sets, system permissions, and system vault roles.

This page describes the `devo admin role` and `devo admin access` commands, which show security roles and permission sets and manage the organization-wide permissions of users and groups. Most of them are for Devolutions Cloud; `devo admin access permission-sets` is for Devolutions Server. The **Workspace** line under each command says where it works. A command run on a workspace type it doesn't support stops with `operationNotSupportedBySource` and names the type you need.

For the list of all commands, see [Commands](/cli/reference/commands.md). For step-by-step tasks, see [Manage users, groups, and access](/cli/for-devops-and-administrators/manage/users-and-access.md). To give access to one vault or one entry, use `devo vault access` and `devo entry access` instead. The options every command accepts, such as `--context` or `--output json`, are described in [Global options](/cli/reference/global-options.md) and aren't repeated here.

**IDs.** Every ID on this page (user, group, role) is a GUID. Find user IDs with `devo admin user list`, group IDs with `devo admin group list`, and role IDs with `devo admin role list`. Commands that change something refuse to run without `--yes` (aliases `-y` and `--confirmed`) and stop with `confirmationRequired`.
{% endhint %}

## Querying This Documentation
If you need additional information that is not directly available in this page, you can query the documentation by asking a question.

Perform an HTTP GET request on the following URL with the `ask` and `goal` query parameters:

```
GET https://docs.devolutions.net/cli/reference/commands/admin-access-and-roles.md?ask=<question>&goal=<user_goal>
```

`ask` is the immediate question: it should be specific, self-contained, and written in natural language.
`goal` is what the user is ultimately trying to achieve, the reason they need the answer. Sharing it helps GitBook give you a better, more relevant answer. A goal is most helpful when it describes the outcome the user wants rather than restating the question. For example, with `ask=how do I create an API token`, a goal like `automate deployments from our CI pipeline` lets GitBook tailor the answer to that use case.

The response will contain a direct answer to the question and relevant excerpts and sources from the documentation.

Use this mechanism when the answer is not explicitly present in the current page, you need clarification or additional context, or you want to retrieve related documentation sections.
